VACCINE LAW

All students who do not have proof of receiving a Tdap booster shot will not be able to start school in the fall until proof (yellow immunization card or immunization print out from your physician's office) is provided.  Click here for more information.

Morning Bell

All students are asked to stay in the playground in the morning where there is supervision.  The school bell rings at 8:25 a.m.  This bell serves two purposes.  The first purpose is middle school students are beginning class.  The second purpose is it serves as a warning bell for 1st - 5th grade students.  When the bell rings the students will have a chance to use the restroom or get a drink of water before class begins.  A whistle will be blown by yard duty and students will line up in the playground area with their class.  They will then proceed to walk to class in a quiet manner.

Envelope Program

Each Friday the blue plastic "Friday Folder" will be sent home with your child.  This is an effort to improve communication between the school and home.  Look over all the material and return signed forms in the envelope promptly on Monday morning (Tuesday if Monday is a holiday).  It is important envelopes are returned since new information will be placed in the envelopes throughout the week.  If your child does not return the envelope, we cannot guarantee you will be provided with timely school information.

blueenvelope.jpg

The blue envelopes are waterproof and will last all year.  Students will be required to have a Home Envelope.  Should your child misplace or lose and envelope, you will need to purchase a replacement envelope in the office for a dollar donation.

Recycle your old toothbrushes!

ReVITALize

Calling to all you super scrubbers, fancy flossers, marvelous mouth washers, and anyone that owns a toothbrush.  We need your help…well, actually your toothbrush!

ReVITALize is a toothbrush collective campaign we are launching to raise awareness and find solutions to the plastic that is filling the landfills.

Please recycle your old toothbrushes in this bin, which will be located in the foyer.  For each recycled toothbrush, our school earns money.  The recycled toothbrushes will be turned into recycled art, and we will be sent pictures of the art pieces.  We also will be entered into a raffle for the opportunity to earn $5,000 for Joe Michell!

Remember, recycle your toothbrushes to the Revitalize bin!

Where does our money go?

Parents often wonder where the PTO spends their money and how it benefits our school.  The PTO thinks it is important for everyone to know what we do for Joe Michell.

Please see letter from the JMS PTO President outlining what we are doing for the school.  You can also find our newly passed budget.  Keep in mind that our budget is based on brining in a lot of fundraising dollars through events, donations, and passive fundraisers.  If we are not able to secure the funding, many of our planned expenses will have to be cut back or unfunded.  Your support is critical to our success!
