A Message from the Library
My name is Kathy Hart and this is my 12th year as the Library Media Specialist at Joe Michell School. I have a great program planned this year for our students. All elementary students will visit the Library once per week. They will have the chance to learn about books and using the library, hear a story, and be able to check out book(s) every week.
Students will not be able to check out a book if they have a book that is overdue.
Our first Book Fair will begin the week of October 26th. More will be coming home soon about this.
We will be using the Accelerated Reader program in the Library, and students may participate if they wish. A student may take a reading test after completing a book, and receive points for correct answers. I will be managing this program in the Library, and will post Top-Point earners in the window.
I love Parent Volunteers !! There is volunteer time available during your child’s class, or for special projects at a time that works for you. If you would be interested in helping in the Library, please let me, or your classroom teacher know. You can reach me at:
email@example.com or (925) 606-4738 ext. 6956
Please help your child remember the following rules:
Books should be returned every week, so your child may check out another.
If the book is not returned, they will not be allowed to take another book home.
Books should be kept away from younger children, pets, food and water.
A book should be stored in your child's backpack when they are not reading it. That way, it will be sure to be returned to school.
Books must be treated with special care. Please send a book back to the Library if it is accidentally damaged while it is checked out.
Read with your child and enjoy their book!
Thank you for your time.
