Global Vision -- Photo of the Month

Each month we post a different photo we hope you might find the time to share with your classes and family.  Here are some questions you could discuss:

1.  Describe this photo?

2.  Where do you think this scene is located?

3.  Have you seen an airplane like this before?

4.  What do you think this airplane is doing?

5.  What questions do you have after viewing this photo?

Don't forget to click here to read the actual backstory to this photo.

About IBĀ®

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) is a non-profit educational foundation, motivated by its mission, focused on the student.

The four programmes IB has for students aged 3 to 19 has helped develop the intellectual, personal, emotional and social skills to live, learn and work in a rapidly globalizing world.  Founded in 1968, they currently work with 3,484 schools in 144 countries to develop and offer four challenging programmes to over 1,057,000 students aged 3 to 19 years.

The IB Mission Statement

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.

In the summer of 2015, Joe Michell TK-8 School was authorized to be an International Baccalaureate World School.  We offer the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) for the TK through 5th grades, and the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) for the 6th through 8th grades.

The IB represents a combination of wide-ranging research and experience – best practice derived from a variety of public and independent schools from around the world. The philosophy is that student learning is best done when it is authentic – relevant to the “real” world; and transdisciplinary, which means that the learning is not confined within the boundaries of traditional subject areas but is supported and enriched by them.
